Lost Soul

This is when the HUD currently is in the initial state; from here you are able to activate a character or create a new one!

There are a few ways to create a character from the “Lost Soul” status on the HUD:

• You can be Offered a position by another individual in the family that is made available by a birth. Accepting a birth offer is an entry point into an existing family and thereby makes you a son or daughter of the individuals that created the birth and extends the family tree another generation. Once you accept an offer into a family, you assume all aspects of that birth including gender and species which can not be changed.

• You can Assume a species and gender; just like option one, you will be placed into a family that has made their birth publicly available through the choose option so that someone may join their family without them explicitly offering that birth.

• You can Spawn a character which provides the most flexibility but also places you as the child of Adam and Eve for the selected species, so the family tree will be very shallow. As part of the spawn process, you have the option to create new species as purebreds or select existing species to create hybrids, or hybrids of hybrids … it can get confusing easily.

There are currently two ways of accepting an offer. First is the mother or father of the birth must be present to offer the birth, which a dialog would prompt the individual being offered to accept or decline; alternatively, if the mother has made use of the Oviposition Plugin, they can give you an egg that was laid which can be rezzed to prompt a dialog to accept the birth.

Choosing a birth is similar to an offer in the sense that the mother or father must make it available but do not have to be present; these births were publicized by the mother or father for anyone to assume the identity of. With this you have a bit more options and control in the sense of defining your character, such as gender and species; but still must accept the name and other elements regarding the birth.

Spawning a birth gives you the most freedom in creating your character; with this option you can define every aspect about your character and even define the species if it does not currently exist (which also designates you as the Species Owner; others will be given the option to become this species as well when Spawning new characters).
